Thank you all!
It ended up being straight through the liver and a bit of the stomach. He probably died within an hour or two from when we backed out.
He died in or very near the spot I heard all the thrashing, which happened to be literally touching the property boundary. One of his tines...
Thanks for the advice everyone. I do agree he’s hit hard. I would estimate he only moved 50-70 yards after he was initially bumped. As he was laid up on a property line we didn’t want to make the situation worse but we are close with the neighbors. Worst case we make a phone call. Will keep you...
No pictures of blood but he was hunched as he slowly walked off and was bedded within 100 yards of the shots. Based on testimony of buddy I believe it likely it was liver+stomach
This morning my hunting buddy gut shot a buck at 300 yards with a 6.5 creedmoor using Hornady precision hunter. I’m pretty sure he hit it twice but certainly both gut shots. We went to look for it an hour later and bumped him into some really thick stuff. He only made it about 50 yards before...
I'm looking into booking a transporter for a drop hunt and was wondering if anyone used BRA in '22 or '23 and would be willing to share their experience. Thanks for your time!
Oops, should’ve been more specific. We have zero points and are looking to go in September to experience the rut. Thanks for the info, I’ll check it out
Hello all, I’m looking at doing a CO drop camp style elk hunt with my father this upcoming season. Has anyone here hunted with Bear Creek Outfitters? If so, how was it? If anyone has any recommendations on other outfitters I’d love to hear them. Thanks
Edit to add info: we have zero points and...
Oh wow that’s better than I thought one could do. I definitely need to look around now. I’m in central Texas so I’m sure there’s some by me that I could look into
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone had experience hunting for whitetail on public land in Texas. I hunt on private property but our deer population is so low we limit our harvest to 1-2 deer a year. Would public land be a decent way to put an extra doe or two in the freezer every year?
Yes I’m looking at being at around 11k feet. I figured I shouldn’t skimp on any item that I would be relying on to keep me comfortable. For the tent I was considering the Nemo tracker tent. I’ll definitely be looking into your other recommendations as well, thanks.
Never thought of getting a quality frame and using a dry bag. Are there certain frames that are better set to contain a dry bag than others that I should look into specifically?
Merry Xmas all, I’m looking to burn some cash and gift cards on some gear to be used on a high country hunt in September. As a broke 20 something I am mainly wondering which gear I could save some money on and not get the high dollar options. I already have all the optics and upper body...
So I have finally decided to commit to an OTC elk hunt in 2023. I’ve narrowed down the season to archery and the region to the south/southwest. I know people find success covering lots of ground on roads, but I would really love to go in deep since getting as far as I can from civilization is...
