Shot a cow last week at 52 yards. And my bull on the 19th at 42 yards. Lots of mass and character on him. First time I saw him he reminded me of a red stag with the crown on top. Montana

Opening day success in Selway!

My first time there (first time hunting in ID period). Boy that unit was everything it was advertised to be. Steep as hell, brutal, rugged, and full of wolves, lions, and bears.

Had one of my closest buddies right there with me, he and I served in the Marines together. What a special memory!

Glad I didn't pass up this bull because we didn't see another one the rest of the week.

Chiming in with my early archery NM 6x6. Shot him right before dark on 9/11 and recovered at first light 9/12 within 60 yards. Solo, DIY from a truck camp. Overweight, out of shape flatlander with a knee that was scheduled for replacement before Covid going 8-10 miles a day finally paid off. Thank God for the neighbors camped down the road with the horse. I could have never gotten him out without them. Packout was just under 2 miles each way. They packed the two hindquarters and one backstrap. I packed the two fronts, a backstrap and the head for three trips total. So many things done wrong as a 58 year old nearly rookie but persistence paid off. Physically, the hardest two weeks I've ever done by a wide margin. I can't wait for next year, if only I can get a tag.

Cool thing about the bull - his thirds are basically 20" long and the longest points by a good bit. The brows, bez and swords are all like 14" +/- I've looked at a lot of pics and that seems to be an unusual trait. Could not be happier.Cropped 2.jpgIMG_0175.jpgRecovery.jpg
