400 yard range on the way to WY

Hi, Myself and two friends are going on a rifle (cow) elk hunt in WY. We will be driving out from CT. We are all military and real familiar with fire arms.
We are looking for public place to shoot along the way out to 400 yards.
I'm also curious if you guys just confirm your zero off some close blm to your hunting area.

Find a safe place in the area your hunting. Should be pretty easy, tons of public, just find an area with good backstop

Wyoming is full of BLM. Though not so much on its eastern border.
I just pull off at an area that looks ideal and shows as blm on Onx maps and shoot away (at least 500yds away from and in opposite direction of the road of course).

Like others said. Find a piece of BLM land (Yellow on OnX) and have at it.
