Shouldn’t recoil be calculated using momentum m1*v1 = m2*v2 and solving for rifle velocity, then plugged into 1/2*m2*v2*v2 to calculate recoil energy?

I skipped most of the details and was originally thrilled that this post meant I *need* to buy 2 more rifles (to add to my 25-06 and 30-06, then I remembered I have a 270 Win. Now I can only justify one more.

PM your email address, there’s quite a few columns hidden. This is what bored people do during lunch.....

Be careful though...eventually you say phuqq it and go ‘06. Things are more similar than different and it all adds up to jack shit...

I definitely get it... and also have both a 30-06 and 25-06 in my stable.

That 25 shoots like a laser and has about a dozen bang flops up to 350 yds over the last decade with 117 SSTs. With a Leupold 4-12x40 with a BDC no less (apparently those are flawed 😂).

PM sent, thanks

Yeah but that 280 AI is an interesting round from that group and it seems you’d save quite a bit of money by using the valuable reloading advice on that exact caliber on this forum? I’d reconsider your assessment before trimming your list 🤣

I think the long bullet/fast twist craze supplanted the short mag craze...

How about a 10 or 12 twist 22-250 AI with monolithics?
I like small and fast. We always used a 30-06, 30-30, or 300 savage when we were growing up. Classic deer canons. My first deer gun that was just mine was and still is a 22-250. People laugh, cringe, and scold when they find out what I use, but it has never let me down. My dad swore he was going to rebarrel his 30-06 to 22-250 after watching me shoot a doe with it. Good shot placement trumps caliber every time. I realize you ma not even be interested, but I thought I would throw it out there.

There’s a long thread on here on 223 rounds for big game - some guys are into it. Some states require a 6 mm (243), though. Didn’t have the 22-250 in these numbers since it’s not a common offering in your typical deer rifle. Won’t say it doesn’t kill!
