Bad habits to avoid for a new shooter

Something that helped me a lot was watching Tom Clum Sr.'s seminar on you tube. I think it was Kalamazoo 2020. The does a great job teaching what back tension is, and he is does it in a way that is easily understandable. Just that video will get you light years beyond what a lot of traditional guys stumbled (including myself) through for years. And as mentioned solid archery mechanics.

I was just dealing with some the other day. What really helps me is having a foundation of a good shot and knowing the ins and outs of each portion of that shot And the “why” behind it.

For example, the other day I started shooting everything a little bit right (LH shooter here) this indicates stiff arrow spine but I knew my arrows and BH were perfect. ( must be ME!)


I shoot right sometimes when I don’t have the correct pushing pressure at the target on my grip. essentially it’s a weak bow arm.

When I concentrated on pushing at the target my arrows shifted over a full 3 inches at 30 yards. Solved.
