Certainly might be some things with exo that just didn't work with your body but I'm not sure I could recommend something else and be confident that it would be better. If exo k1 felt like a board on your body, a kifaru or SG is only going to feel more so IMO.
50# for 8 miles a day and multiple days on end isn't something I've done, that weight will wear on you. I've had multiple elk packouts with exo k1, k2, Seek outside revolution, and stone glacier x-curve frames. I can't say any of them were particularly rougher on my body that the other. In all cases, putting a heavy pack on your back is not "comfortable".
