Did elk ever bugle in N. Idaho/ NW Montana?

September 7 and 25th both had lots of bugles for me. I find them sneaking in to investigate on the 7th and getting defensive at the end.

It's obvious when they've been harassed a lot....they tighten up unless you get deep and play the situation right.

Pretty foolish to think the wolves have silenced the elk, unless you’re talking about the two legged ones.

what about all the silent elk in CO NM AZ NV? The hoochie mama call is the “wolf” you guys are looking for.

No, the elk in these 2 areas are mute, makes hunting them extremely difficult. :)

I got one answer to a locate bugle in 6 days.

I heard 1 bugle I am pretty sure was another hunter.

I got a couple bulls a little fired up when I busted a satellite bull and the rest of the herd hung around.

No shot fired. Last week of the season in N Idaho.
