First time Caribou hunter

Looking for insight on Caribou tags in AK, looking to do a drop hunt. I am going to apply for DC827, but other tag recommendations are welcome. I do live in Kodiak so my back up plan is hunting the Kodiak reindeer herd on the south end of the island. Any info is welcome as I have only been in AK for 2 years and with the exception of my drive from Oregon I have been on Kodiak the whole time. Thanks

Maybe touch base with VernAK, that's up in his neck of the woods. Some big caribou in that part of Alaska.

Lots of good options. Nelchina tags, the 40 Mile, heading up north to Happy Valley. A drop hunt into Zone 2 of the 40 Mile would be a good option with a high success rate.
