I have never been able to get the megatarp set up perfectly in the last 4 hunts since I've bought it. No matter what I do I feel like the "spine" always sags down. I use trekking poles as stakes typically.

What do yall think I'm doing wrong here? Thanks

They are cut in a certain manner to make them sag and wrinkle less.

So nothing wrong with your pitch that I can see other than maybe your two front corners needing to come a touch further forward.

Have you followed the setup tips from Kifaru on YouTube? I dont have the link handy, but there were some great videos on how to setup the Megatarp that helped when I first got it.

I've only found one where Frank set it up partially in a patch of trees

Here it is.

Let me know if that link doesn't work.

I followed those instructions and have always had a pretty close to perfect setup. The only times I've had issues was when the site was too narrow....but that's the same with all shelters.

If its windy or poor weather, I use three stakes to guy out the sides. This does make it alot easier to get rid of the wrinkles and keep the sides more taught.

I had this same problem on a recent archery hunt, heavy rain and snow seemed to exacerbate the problem. I felt like if I angled my trekking poles slightly more and tightened the Ridgeline guy lines it might help. Didn't get to test it out because my buddy tagged put a day after I joined him 🤣
