Got an email this morning and curious if anyone has heard of this or tried it.

Just a note for you - Magnesium oil can be sprayed on the body after a shower. It tingles when you first use it, which is a sign of deficiency. After a couple of weeks it builds up and there isn't an issue. A few squirts a day means you can get a couple months off one bottle. The tablets can take months to truly absorb - the spray is much superior, and people can spritz it on the chest and thighs pretty quickly and easily. It is immediately absorbed - bypassing the gut. Learned this from a gal that does colonic - has her place in Claremont, CA - hotbed for alternative individuals.

Yeah, it's crap. Some people truly believe various parts of this stuff, but a good majority of people I have found are just promoting misinformation like this to make a buck, including some unscrupulous naturopaths, chiropractors, NP's, and even doctors. A better health source discussing all sorts of things, including magnesium in foods & supplementation would probably be Dr. Steven Masley's new book, Smart Fats.

What are they claiming that magnesium oil sprayed on the body is supposed to do for you????

Its often used as a sleep supplement. Supposedly, commercially available food that should be high in magnesium contains significantly less than it used to because we have depleted soils through intense farming practices. Athletes need much higher doses of magnesium than sedentary people.

Also, a lot of people these days take proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec, which apparently deplete magnesium from the body. Why change your diet or take a cheap oral supplement though, when you can spray yourself with an expensive ineffective alternative?
