Have a extra shim ?I looked at the same break but threads are thin on light kimber barrel and just went with standard kimber brake on my .280 ai. Have an extra as well if interested.
Take off the brake? Tools needed? It looks like you can burn about. 009" and it'll time. That's how I'd do it....then no washer to look at.
Can you explain this “burn it back”?If you have a flat surface that you can place a piece of 400 grit paper on, you can burn it back.
I'm assuming that you torqued the brake tight. You'll get another 1/8th turn or so before it is tight.
You can figure exactly how much to take off mathematically. 1 inch ÷ tpi gives you how far the brake travels in a full turn. Divide that by the amount you want it to travel.....and you're there. Just make sure you're counting when it's tight.
Just like Trout bum said, sand it down. Can you explain this “burn it back”?
It's actually about .021" off since it's upside down and short. Flat sanding the back of a brake for a few thou is generally OK but when it's .015-.020" or more it's pretty easy to sand it crooked especially with a brake that has very thin matting surfaces. It's just too easy to tip it when your sanding.
Pics
Not sure, will post if can grab a measurement on it.How long is that brake? The pics make it look 4 or 5 inches long.
Been wanting a brake for my Kimber Montana 280ai and something better for my fierce 300wm. Plan on giving this guy a call as soon as he gets back from his hunt. Which actually should be today.
