T3X started as a 223 hunter model
20" 223 1:8 CTR take off
PSE E-Tac
Atlasworx aics dbm
Nxs 2.5-10x32 moar with vortex caps
30mm low optilock ringmounts

Been shooting a lot of frontier 68gr bthp. Its cheap and agrees with this rifle. Usually 1-1.5moa, often less. This barrel has been super consistent and can shoot quite small groups if I load for it.

I have 308 and 6.5cm barrels for it too.

Do you know where to find these rings at? The only ones I can find are the newer 2 piece type with the separate base.

Well, my build is mostly done. I say mostly because I currently have it in a B&C stock while I wait for the Manners EH1TK stock that I ordered 4 months ago. Still a bit of a wait, I suppose.

Here are the specs:
Tikka T3 donor action. Was a 270WSM.
Original bolt fluted and coated by boltfluter
Mountain Tactical outdoorsman bolt handle
Oregon Mountain bolt shroud
Oregon Mountain long action bolt stop
Mountain Tactical bottom metal
Mountain Tactical LA mag
Bell and Carlson M24 stock (will be replaced by said Manners EH1TK some day)
M-Carbo trigger spring in the original trigger
Preferred Barrel Blank 1-9" twist, Light Palma contour, finished at 21.5", spiral fluted, and muzzle threaded 5/8-24
Salmon River Solutions SS-Pro 4 brake (will be removed when my suppressor for this rifle gets out of jail)
Mountain Tactical Raptor mount (0 MOA, medium)
Tract Toric UHD 2.5-15X44 FFP mrad/mrad scope (non-illuminated)

One of mine has a new alter ego I’m liking quite a bit. Its other version is 22” carbon 6 280ai, which is great for longer range shots that don’t typically have any need to shoot in AK. Decided on a short barreled medium bore for the thick country of south central AK. It’s a 20” McGowan 1:9 in 338-284. Weighs 7#13oz. Its twin is a 20” 7-08ai. May just get rid of the 280ai barrel, as these two will fill all my needs very well. I’m not convinced I’m fancy enough for carbon anyway.

McGowan #4. Don’t recall the weight off the top of my head, but about 4oz lighter than the 22” light profile carbon 6 280ai (featherweight? Can’t remember what they call it). That .338 hole in the middle does a great job lightening a barrel!

The .223 project lives. Brought this pro varmint back from the grave to hold me over until I can get my hands on an ATX chassis.

Not the prettiest gal when I got her…

Sandblasted to see what I was working with:

Cleaned it out, opened up barrel channel, re-installed pillars and prepped for new bedding:

Fresh paint and all cleaned up:

Waiting on an SRS Arca rail and then she’ll be done. Super cheap and turned out way better than I imagined.

Great looking Tikka.

Bolt fluting removes an almost unmeasurable amount of weight and is can be a detriment to function as it allows debris to enter. The conventional wisdom that it increases reliability by allowing for free movement of ice and debris has been demonstrated false. It is not a big deal, and most likely will not become an issue whether fluted or not. Let's put it this way, I wouldn't pay extra for the feature but I wouldn't unload a rifle due to bolt fluting.

here’s my 223 waiting on the Rokstok. Barrel cut to 16.5 and action lightened.

Tikka T3X 7mm Rem Mag, Proof Sendero light barrel, widened the barrel channel on a factory super varmint stock. Weight with scope is 8.7, great all around set up.

Normally I think cantilever mounts look, well… not so good on bolt guns. But this one is pretty 🤩… lol…

Specs?
Yeah I don’t disagree. It’s a Geissele Super Precision with Reptilia ROF diving board. That optic usually lives on my DMR but it was the only mount I had that worked, so I stole it until my new rings come in.
Those waters mags are nice
Hell yeah they are, especially the .223 long OAL 10-rounders.

This one was a 280ai with a 22” Carbon Six, now 338-284 with a 20” McGowan. Also used to wear a 2-12 vx6hd, now 2.5-15 Trijicon Credo. Weighs 7# 12oz. Its twin is in 7-08 Ackley with a 20” PBB. That barrel is currently at LRI getting fluted to bring the weight down where I want it. Same scope change as this one.
