Mountain Evo Jacket

I was looking at picking up the new mountain evo jacket when I found the Outdoor Research Ferrosi Hoodie on sale at Go Hunt. Would they be comparable or would it be worth the extra money on the mountain evo?

The OR Ferrosi is a nice jacket. I personally couldn't find it a place in my system - too breathable to kick a tough wind, I'd rather pack my rain jacket or wind jacket. I could see myself wearing it around casually or on hikes.

I haven't checked out the Evo in person yet. For me - it fits the same spot that a softshell does. I love the concept but it never makes the pack. Too heavy for the warmth, while not waterproof.

I'd highly recommend a wind shirt over this. My Mountain Hardware Kor hoody is 5 ounces, fits in my pants pocket, quiet & is very wind resistant while breathing a little. Also, significantly cheaper than this Sitka piece. Not to knock anyone who loves it but I can't see a useful place for it. It weighs almost as much as my rain jacket and 3x what my wind shell does.
