Well, apparently I like to tinker with stoves....so...I"ve been researching the old Seek Outside Siblings and after seeing some feedback and thoughts from @RockChucker30 I decided to make one with the materials I have on hand. BUT, the one thing I didn love about them was the floorless design. It could be great sometimes, but also has potentially for a mess. So I adapted the design to work with a floor. I"m looking at this for use in either my BT-2 or Supertarp. Thinking the round footprint might work well in the supertap.
I need to make a little larger "ring" for the springs to tension off of, as they are just a bit too tight and are adding to much tension. IF I cant get it right, as annoying as it is sometimes, I might go the Kifaru SS wire route...we'll see, they suck when its cold.
Damper is see outside 2.5". Pipe shown in picture is a stainless 4' kifaru 3.5" diameter, with will probably be cut down narrower. Everything except the damper is SS. I might put 3 weld nuts on the bottom so I can put 3 4" carriage bolts on as feet to keep it off the ground as well.
Haven't decided on the door yet, but it will not be on the seam side like the Big Sibling was, and wont go all the way to the bottom. Probably a round door with some holes below it, and 3 vertically in a row above it like the old TiGoat doors.
Drawback on this design is lack of cook top. But, I will probably fashion a cross that can be put across the flue hole when it is not in the tent and then it could be used as a twig stove where fires were prohibited. Honestly, if I cant cook over a fire I"m generally carrying a small stove anyway...
Let me know what you guys think. Any feed back would be much appreciated.
Cheers!
