NF SHV fit on magnum action

Hi all

Have a Ruger Hawkeye in 300 WM. Has been sporting a Burris 3-9x40 for the last decade plus.

Thinking of upgrading and I have my eye on the SHV 3-10. Have read a bit about the main tube being short. Curious if I’ll have to get new rings (offset?) or if the existing ruger rings I have will fit.

Any advice or experience?

I bought a NF SHV 3-10 this year and mounted it on my Ruger MKII .35 Whelen just before moose hunting season. I found that on 10x, even with the scope mounted as far back as it could, I had to really crank my neck to get the proper eye relief. I ended up getting some extended rings when I got back. Much better now.

Get a ruler out and measure it. The shv 3-10 has 5.1” of mounting space.
