Finally grabbed the carry gun I’ve been wanting. I’m not a huge firearm collector, and the available variety of night sites is intimidating. For a general carry/hunting side arm what is the night sight to get??

I have the Trijicon HDs on all of my glocks. I prefer the orange front sight. They’re tritium front and rear with an orange or yellow outline on the front sight.

Yea I think I like the XR better I just haven’t decided it’s enough of an upgrade to swap out the regular HDs. The XRs have a more narrow front sight and I think upgraded tritium.

Well I came in here all hot to trot gonna proclaim the Trijicon HD are best.
But it looks like my front sight is dead.
I would of preferred the orange front but I got these for a deal🤣 these are yellow front.

Looks like I'll be testing out the warranty

+1 for the trijicon HD (also the ameriglo operator pro) sights that have a high contrast outline in addition tritium. I find the orange background to provide the best contrast in the woods (green and yellow can wash out) and out.

I vote 2010 . The markings on mine are all worn off but I know they’re at least five years old.

look at XS sights. I have two sets on Glocks. and they're great. Really large front dot, great for a carry gun.

I think the decision should be what you want to see as far as space on the sides between the post and notch, then decide what you want to see on the rear face, if anything. Then go seek it out, mix and match if need be. Ameriglo, Trijicon, XS, Heinie, Warren, all make fine stuff.

I use Trijicon sights on my 29SF and g40. The XR are quicker acquisitions for my eyes but the HDs are still great. I only use trijicons for iron sight replacements.

I like my trijicons, but don’t have too much to compare them too. No regrets on the purchase.

Since this thread started my sights circa 2009ish went dead and I ordered XS F8 sights. Oh my, they are sweet. tall front post tall rear with a deep notch that is wide enough to get some daylight on the post sides.
