I have a 3.5-15x50 nxs on my finnlight. It is the bees knees. Everything is covered. 3.5x in the timber and 10-15x for farther than 90% of people can shoot in open country. I shot my old 3-9 bdc to 6-7 hundred yards regularly on gongs. The 15x I easily good to 1200 not that I'd ever consider shooting at anything living at that range. If you hunt in the timber at all I'd go lower power. Just my .02
Starting to lean towards the 4-16x50 atacr... But I think that fits the same concept youre talking about.

You guys running that big NXS on your Finnlights, I’m sure curious how it feels to carry. I’ve got a 4.5-14x40 VX3 with the varmint reticle on my 75 Finnlight in 300 WM and it’s served me well so far out to 605 yards on an elk. I’m tempted to put my 6.5-22x50 NXS on top as my shots have gotten longer where we now hunt where we seem to mainly be ridge hunting and looking down over small meadows or bowls. I’m almost always at max power once stationary.

Top heavy? Awkward?

The gun feels fine still. The lightweight rifle makes up for the tank scope lol.

Spent some time looking through an NXS and an Atacr today... I was surprised how little difference there was in glass quality... The atacr image had a little more pop to it. However, I felt the nxs had the better eye box and was less finicky in terms of eye relief. I'll be honest, I don't know that the atacr is worth the extra money. Going to look at them in low light this evening to see what kind of difference there is.

There was some difference in low light, it seemed like the atacr made up some ground in that regard. For glass, It still seemed much closer than I anticipated. I had a buddy look through them with me, he was a little surprised that the atacr eye relief was not better the NXS. Tough decision.

I have one rifle that wears a NXS 5.5-22 and another that has a 3.5-15. While I do love the 5.5-22 for ringing steel at long distances it rarely sees the field, partially due to that particular rifle's weight, but also because the 3.5-15 will do almost everything the 5.5-22 will do when hunting. At the moment I have a .300 WBY waiting on a scope and I'm leaning towards putting a 2.5-10 x 42 NXS on it since it will be a gun that gets carried a fair amount.
Wanna trade your nxs5.5 x 22 for a nsx3.5 x 15 ?
