I think the antler restrictions put in place a few years back by Penna. has improved the quality of harvested buck deer, Maryland has went that way also as I hunt Maryland a good bit the bigger racked deer are making a come back at least in the area I hunt.

Boy this thread is encouraging and depressing at the same time. I haven't had much luck on public here in PA. But being in SEPA I feel like what we do have around here is super pressured. Anyone have good luck down here? I've got awesome pictures up until the night before early archery. Then they all seem to scatter to the residential neighborhoods surrounding the public.

Insane.

SE PA public, 2021 and 2023. A good amount of luck involved in both kills, bigger one netted 130 0/8. Missed a p&y buck in the same area in 2022, saw one in 2023 and didn't get a shot. PA deer hunting now is nothing like it was 20 years ago.

No he wasn’t missing any eyes, he was just rutted up.

Its pretty crazy, but I actually passed him the year before during my one week hunting trip in November, he had 4 on one side and was completely broken off at the base on the other. So just a encouragement, just because you pass them doesn’t mean someone else is going to kill that buck, sometimes they make it through until the next season.
