Savage .300 and Diamondback Scope?

Is there any reason that a guy would have an issue with this set up?

My buddy was going to go with the diamondback scope and the guy working at the shop talked him out of it making it sound like it would break.

Other than the people that have a bias against Vortex, should this setup really have any issues? It didn't make any sense to me and made it seem like he just wasn't a fan of vortex and was pushing his own ideas on my buddy. Seems illogical that a rifle scope would be suited for a gun because it is a .300 and will "pack a punch" as i guess it was put.

I’m not really a Vortex hater, but after being around 3 different Diamondbacks I wouldn’t trust them on a .223. Two of those were on 300 wm’s and neither made it through sighting in without breaking. The third is on a 22-250 of my dads and it suffers major tracking issues. Just sighting it in is a real treat. I certainly wouldn’t trust one on a big game rifle. JMO.
