Sportsmatch recoil pin…use it???

The issue has already been talked about in other posts. If you use the pin in the front ring it is really far back with the part of the mount hanging off the factory rail. I have noticed that a some are clearly not using it on their rifles based on photos posted.

Just wanted to ask people who use sportsmatch ring two simple questions:

1. Do you run yours with the recoil pin?

2. If you do not have you ever experienced a loss of zero?

I tried using them without the pin. Do not recommend.

I use the pin on the front ring. It works just fine. The rail is continuous, the ejection port doesn't have any influence on the holding area for the ring unless you had your action "sheep cut" - which I would not recommend.

Yes to using the pin, and no, never lost zero on 3 Tikkas over several years. Great rings.
