Is there any reason why I cannot just tie a little serving knot right where I would crawl my tab to for 20 yard shots? That way I don’t even have to look at my tab and do the whole thumbnail slide down bit.

Of course! It’s called a fixed crawl and many people, including myself, do that. It makes life much easier when in a hunting situation.

People do it all the time. Just be sure to tune for that, esp. if you're going to use broadheads.

Thanks everyone. Still learning how to shoot so have dove into the tuning aspect yet, might try in time for some doe action this fall.

This is the only time I use a brass nock. I've found that its much easier to find it in the dark.

Pay attention to your nock location. Often when tied where the tab will ride it can spin up the serving from the tab tension.

If you do tie one, set it tight and seal with beeswax.
