After reading a few post about draw odds I got to thinking that more than likely I will never have these so called dream hunts. Which sucks but it is what it is. I will still put in and hope for a great tag in some states. Others I will just pick up a OTC or easy tag to draw. No matter what I will be hunting.
But what got me thinking is would it be close to the same hunting with a camera instead of a rifle/bow. Lets take 4th season unit 44 Colorado. Probably will never come close to getting this tag. But what I have read its a great experience. So lets say instead of drawing the tag I just show up during the hunt dates with a camera and goal of getting a photo of a trophy/190 plus buck. I have all the gear, love to be out in mountains and love hunting seeing big deer. Of course not all the experiences will be there as if I had a tag. But could it come close.
Lets say the same thing about a true high country mule deer. Might be years until I get that tag. Would it be close to the same to put a stock on a huge velvet buck and get with in bow range but take a pic instead.
I just know there are so many great tags/hunts that I will never have a tag for: Goats, rams, moose ect... but still want that feeling and experience of hunting that animal. So many top units I will never step foot in if I wait for a tag.
Like I said I will still be hunting OTC units and trying to draw tags but if I can swing a extra week or so a few times would it be worth it to just bring the camera and kind of hunt that way
Thanks
