2023 OFFICIAL ELK MEAT POLE THREAD

My X-bolt is getting bored of my Hoyt. New to Rokslide, but this was the last weekend of archery season in the Bridgers (MT)
Loads of hard work without much action earlier in the season must have set the stage for the "thank god" feeling on the second to last day of the season! Nice work keeping your head in the game.

My NM 1st rifle bull. Had him going all morning, but couldn’t close the distance. Hiking back through where I had him going in the evening, I threw out a couple cow calls just to locate him for the next morning. He responded immediately and was coming in hot. He popped over the ridge and I dropped him at 30 yards with the ole 3006. Thankful to have my father along with me.

Just got back from NM and had a great public land hunt. Bulls were screaming all week. Missed a 320 class bull tuesday on a deflected shot but got another opportunity yesterday on a decent 6x5.
Dang man I’d say you got a good shot. Good looking bull. Congrats

I'll go first. This is the first elk I've killed. First day of the season, last light on public land in Montucky with my PSE Mach 34. I'm still on cloud nine after taking this old 6x7 brute as my first elk.

Update - official scores: gross - 352 2/8, net - 332 1/8
What guide service did you use?

Awesome, I am an amateur hunter. I wish one day I can kill an elk.
