I've sen my share of animals killed with an arrow...and over 100 elk....and can only think of a couple cases where the BH junction failed....and that was probably from hitting a rock after going through the animal.
Now there was a problem with some early Slick Tricks breaking at the ferrule- overhardened just like the Ashby heads were...many failure with both of those, too brittle and breaking.
Besides that...maybe a couple cases is all.
No harm in beefing up your arrow, its your time and money...but I don't bother.
