I have 3 elk rifles and I choose which one is my favorite depending on the hunting terrain I’m in.
Heavy Timber: Remington 700 LSS 338 RUM with 250 accubonds.
All-around terrain day hunting from camp (timber pockets, across canyon shots, open fields, no more than 6-8 miles from truck or camp): Custom 300 PRC with 215 berger hybrids
Backpack hunting: Custom 7 saum with 175 Berger elite hunters.

Custom 30 Nosler for the past 9 years. 210 ablr at 3028 fps is bad medicine.
Nice! And thanks, now I have Bon Jovi in my head.

For me, it's the ol' 7 mag. In a Grayboe Phoenix stock, bedded, with a new TriggerTech trigger. Vortex Venom 5-25x56 (which may get replaced soon). It really likes the 175 Berger Elite Hunter, 168 Berger VLD, and 162 ELD-M
The other, lighter option is a Browning A-Bolt in .308, shooting factory 168 Berger Hybrid Hunters.

I like it. The 7 mag has been tried and true for years - good equipment there for sure.

I definitely "have the fever" for making bullets go fast for hunting. My 7mm choice for elk is a 7-300 PRC. Took the 300 PRC case and necked it to 7mm - running 180 bergers at 3120. BAT Machine action, Trigger Tech - Kahles 624 scope, Bart 8 twist bbl, AG Comp stock

280ai or die. Also why haven't I been killing calves my whole life? Gahtdayum the meat is GOOD.
I can never decide if I am a trophy hunter that really like wild game or meat eater that really likes trophies. Enjoy the tender elk.

Got two, 338 ultra using 270 ELdx and 300 ultra. 190 LRX on Remington LSS rifles. One for the early season up close and other for the late season cross canyon shots. Got a Tikka 7 PRC build at the GS that might put both out of work. Time will tell.

I shot my first elk when I was in college with a borrowed .30-40 Krag.

The next year I built my first centerfire rifle, a Herter's .30-06, and for the next 10 years it kept my freezer full of elk meat and gave me this guy to put on my wall...

Then in the late '70s I had my .30-06 rechambered to .30 Gibbs, and with the help of 180 gr Nosler Partitions, it kept my freezers full of elk meat for the next 20 some years.

On my first Unlimited Unit bighorn sheep hunt in Montana's Absoraka Wilderness, I didn't see any sheep, but when this guy stopped broadside at about 75 yds from me and bugled, I couldn't resist and a 117 gr Sierra from my .257 Ackley instantly dropped him and he's lived on my wall ever since.

In the early 2000's a 160 gr Accubond from my Rem 700 in 7 mm RM filled my freezer with a cow elk, and since 2010 my .300 Weatherby Vanguard and a variety of Barnes TSX and TTSX bullets has kept elk meat in my freezers.
