22 pistol with a suppressor would be a sweet setup if that is a possibility.
I've thought about this very subject for the past 2 years & I struggle with this question: "is the chance of one good camp meal worth the risk of spooking an elk that will feed me for a year?" So far the answer has been no
They don’t spook and it’s very fun…. I shoot 22 mini mags. The standard velocity does not penetrate effectively.

CCI quiet .22lr. In a single shot or revolver would do the trick.

My old manager shoots squirrels out of his kitchen window with it even when his neighbors are outside. his barrel was even out the window and shot a squirrel with it...the neighbor saw the squirrel thrashing on the ground walked over and looked at it and came to his door to tell him he thought a squirrel fell to its death hahaha.

Unfortunately its illegal to use a .22 in UT, last I checked anyway. I wanted to get a pistol because I usually run into a few.
