Wife got one, 2020 TRD off road. Ordered into billings, 41k with no miles, greatfalls and Helena had good deals after we already put down the deposit. No sales tax in MT. They called a few months back and said they would buy back with 20,000 miles on it for 52

What’s your time frame? Can you wait? Do you have a trade? If you have a trade you’ll get an inflated price for it, if you do it right, so that’ll offset paying msrp for the new one. If you don’t have a trade and you aren’t in a hurry wait until September. Good chance prices stabilize.
I am in no rush at all. Wife and I are retiring no later than end of next year, possibly end of this year. 4Runner would be for her. Would have a trade-in. For me, planning on a used Tundra. Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment, wanting to buy two vehicles in the next year or so, in this market. But probably will wait things out and hope the market comes back to earth.

I bought a 2021 Venture model last December, got a really good deal. I got lucky because it was just before the new car market pretty much shut down. I paid well below MSRP. I really like the Venture package. It’s got the TRD wheels, TRD leather, the locking diff and all the traction control stuff and manual 4wd transfer case. It’s crazy to see what they are going for now.

FYI, you can probably buy a GX 460 and get the Lexus V8 for a very similar price. Everyone wants a 4runner, most don't realize the GX is the more luxury version but it's every bit as capable. Lockers and all on our 2020 offroad GX 460, not that we need them, it's my wife's grocery getter, but it is dang nice to drive. We like it far more than her 2016 limited 4runner.
Did you install lockers or are you talking about the center difflock as the GX does not come with lockers in any trim.
I had a 2016 Trail 4runner, I sold it and purchased a used 2017 GX 460.

Also the new 4Runner is coming in 2023 model year. Have to decide if you want the new tech or the proven tech.

Center dif lock..correct. no way I'm putting ARBs in my wife's grocery getter. But yes, still the more capable SUV overall besides the TRD Pro based on drive modes.

I've taken my GX everywhere. I agree it's just as capable as the 4runner. I did install a 2.5 in Ironman lift, ditched the 18 in wheels and put on my 17 in trd pro wheels. This thing is a beast. I also did the MTS and CC mod.

Couple things..........

1, I'd never get one without KDSS unless you like runaway trains.

2. They are gutless.

I bought the wife a new 2019 trd model for $55k canadian. We traded in her jeep jk on it. I really enjoyed the new yota! The wife didnt. I added a toytec 3" suspension and liked it even more! The wife still didnt so within months it got traded on a new jeep JL rubicon. The rubicon is a fine rig but that toyota was sure a nice rig. The new 6 banger turbo should make these new yotas even more fun!

Yep...and yep.

I love the KDSS suspension- especially for our rough roads. We blasted down the Edgerton Hwy at 45mph. and the KDSS soaked up all the bumps and chatter like it was nothing. Even our awful ice rutted roads are a snap with it.

The 275hp rating doesn't really describe how the torque is delivered, adequate is the best I can do. After driving my 5.7 Tundra, the 4Runner feels lazy and definitely underpowered at highway speeds. Of course, high speed highway driving isn't why it's made anyway.

Paid ~39k in Feb of 21 in Albuquerque NM.
Don’t remember sticker but I shopped Colorado, TX, and AZ dealers and found this one.

Shop ebaymotors and look for ended sales. That’ll give you a better idea of what they have sold for in the past.

Not familiar with KDSS--is that some type of factory-installed suspension upgrade? If so, which trim package do you need to get to have it included?
Regarding "gutless"--I think that might be at least, somewhat relative. I've never owned a vehicle with >215 HP, am a slower (read: old!) driver, so I don't think I'd be bothered by it.

I'll look into ebaymotors as part of my research.

Thanks again for the input, guys. By the way, love the pics!

My wife and I purchased a 2022 4Runner SR5 Premium for her in October 2021. Ordered it online, worked with Lithia Motors in Missoula, MT. Vehicle took 10 weeks from order submission to pickup. Sticker price for vehicle was $43,600.

Front diff was completely replaced at 2,500 miles last week. Apparently there is a needle bearing issue that has been prevalent in recent Tacomas that's now bleeding into 4Runners. Symptom was a low-pitched cyclical hum over 30MPH, and there were metal shavings in the diff fluid.
