Average rifle shot distance

Saw a similar thread in the sheep section and thought it might be interesting on elk.
My farthest is 560, closest with rifle is right at 100 with the rest of them in between. I’d say average for me is probably 250-300.

For ~25 elk rifle kills my furthest was probably 225 or so, shortest was 20-25 in the timber, and the average was probably 150.

First 20 or so was in thick timber ranging from probably 10 to 80 yards. Started hunting more open country and now my average is probably 300. Not many over 500 but even fewer under 200.

Rifle closest was a sleeping bull 20 yards. quite a few between 100-400. 8 bulls between 600 and 800
Bow none over 40 (wont take that shot) ave prob 20

Closest 20 yards, farthest 475 yards. I typically expect about a 250 to 300 yarder when rifle hunting but often end up getting closer.

Average of combined 67 rifle elk and 4 archery elk...159 yards. Throw out the 4 archery elk and rifle only bumps to 167 yards. Average on the 4 archery elk 24.5 yards.

Average is probably somewhere around 50. Longest about 150. Shortest about 15. Only ever rifle hunted in PA and WV.
