I am getting married in August and I have been contemplating what I would like to do for my bachelor party. I have been looking into going on a pig hunt but it appears those can be pretty pricey. The guys I am going with don't have a lot of money so I was looking for something cheap and fun. Looking for ideas. What else can we go and shoot in June, July?

For mine, I was kind of in the same situation, lots of friends, not a lot of cash. We rented 2 pontoon boats and a condo on a lake that has a notoriously rowdy party cove. There were 18 of us, and with each of my buddies, and future father in law throwing down some cash, it was pretty affordable. We didnt shoot anything, and I couldn't tell you what happened at all on Saturday, but 5 years later, it still gets talked about a lot, and has set the standards for bachelor parties in my circle of friends. If you wanted to shoot something, I'd say find a lake with a party cove, and bowfish in the am, then party all afternoon and into Sunday.
Congrats on the engagement!

Thanks man! That sounds like fun. I did think about bow fishing. That would be kind of fun. The fiancé's grandpa has a pontoon boat so I will do some checking.

That sounds exactly like my bachelor party. Lake Havasu on a houseboat. Set the bar and we still talk about it.

I threw a big bachelor party for my best friend 3 years ago. We got about 25 guys together and went camping in the Missouri River breaks for three days. Total we had 9 jet boats, so we fished all day and ran the river just having some good old fashion fun, then dipped into two kegs throughout the trip. Pretty fun time, and didn't cost to much $. Here is one picture from the trip, the captain's chair on top got a little hairy at times cruising down the river. I did exactly what you are doing too. I wanted to go on a cheap hunt or fly in fishing trip but in the end it proved to just not be cost effective for most of the people that wanted to go, so we kept it local.

I think you should go somewhere that has a decent sized tree. They should make you chop it down, with an axe. We did that to my cousin about 6 years ago for his. It started the day off, we sat around on lawn chairs and watched him do it. HUGE tree too, it was hilarious. When he took a break from swinging, he had to drink beer :)

Same here for my bachelor party...there's always a party cove. And hell if there isn't..make your own. You cant tell from the pic but we were surrounded by cabin cruisers and yachts but whatever I bet we had the best time in the place... And we were able to get more shallow.

For a good buddies bachelor party about 25 of us headed up to a cool mountain pass with a couple kegs for a long weekend. There was plenty of shooting, drinking, four wheeling, drinking, fishing, drinking - you get the idea. It was a blast and we even talked a couple poor saps into being DDs and we went down the hill and took over a little bar in a tiny town for the night (one of the members here actually bought that bar not too long ago). Pretty sure they made more off us that night then all year long.

This was the "fireworks" show we put on one night.

For my bachelor party, a bunch of flew out of a small local airport and rented a cheap suite at one of the mid grade casinos in Vegas and tore it up for a couple nights. Obviously no shooting involved besides shots but with a bunch of us crashing in one room I think we each only spent a couple hundred each on airfare and the room which left plenty for gambling and drinking. It was a damn good time as well!

Congrats on taking the plunge by the way. Been almost 5 years now but the best decision I made (but I am spoiled with a damn good wife).

This is awesome, still makes me laugh just thinking about it... Sounds like something that will happen now for a couple of my buddies' bachelor parties coming up this summer!!!

Perfect time for tuna! Getting there might be pricey but for a couple hundred a head you could from san d to mexican waters.

I am in the exact same boat as you Wyo. I am getting married in July 2015. All of the guys that would attend are into hunting and fishing so we want to do something along those lines.

I had a buddy last year buy two cheap trucks($500ea), 5 kegs a ton of ammo, some of the finest native artillery and some more alcohol. They spent 5 days on some private property with a cabin and a lake. Rallying the trucks, blowing stuff up and getting hammered. Sounds like a great time to me.

For my bro-in-law we went ocean fishing. It was something that none of us would have probably ever done on our own, and wasn't real expensive, although we are close enough to drive. I was scared of the drinking/firearms combination as I hadn't previously met all of the people attending.

MOUSE races
Buy a feeder mouse for everyone at a pet store. Put some type of wager, set price, or auction off the mice for the pot. We had enough people to pay for the booze, and then split the rest of the pot in half. Gave half to the race winner and half to the groom.

The races we drew heats of five racers. Our track had three mouse traps on it. You get the idea, the live mice made the next round. The final round there was only one survivor that determined the winner. Then the cat was brought in.

It was hilarious to see 30 grown men stand around a big wood box screaming at their mouse. Side bets are encouraged.

A bachelor party has more to do with the people there then the activity in my opinion.
