Any idea of his pricing? Didn't see any prices on the website. Thats a really cool option.
This is what she text my wife when she dropped the lion skull off to her. The business is called dermestidarium, but Carla does some awesome work… even her euro mounts have wow factor, and her pricing is better than most places… before finding her I was paying double or more for average euros, first one she did for me I was blown away… didn’t know they could be next level vs the normal taxi euros… I’m a little fanboy for her business… not super fast, but every bit worth it and she is now branching out and doing different stuff like the metalized skulls and maybe some rugs… I’m going to ask her about that, because I am leery to pay the price for a rug bear or lion and get some terribly done head/face on the rug… I would trust her

I like the metallic look but not a fan that the teeth are painted as well.

I made my own rendition of a cave/tar pit fossil. Done it a few times. Like how they turn out.

I'm a fan of leaving them natural and having them just sitting on a shelf. I'm always amazed at the number of people who pick them up and play with them. I find thay are more approachable setup like that. It's more often a conversation starter then any of the full size mounts or rugs. I also have a Black Bear rolled up in a Seek Outside pack on my wall, that one also gets people interested.

How do you keep the teeth from being bleached white when you do peroxide or other whitening methods? I like that natural look to the teeth

I just had mine cleaned and bleached. The company sent it back with a small clear zip tie holding the bottom jaw to the top. I was going to cut the zip tie off, but decided to keep it on because it makes the skull so much easier to handle/pass around. As you can see in the picture it is barely visible.

Here’s one that’s intriguing.

I would not do this with a small bear but it could look good with a medium or larger bear.

Don’t know how to cut the hide for something like this. Will have to ask my taxidermist. Worst case he can cuss me out while sewing it up.

Pull every tooth. It’s not easy and I have one trip to the emergency room for stitches and another trip to the Dr for a staff infection. Trial and error!

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you do it

Lots of trial and error. I have tried many different substances. I pick up most every skull I come across In the woods like doe, coyote, cow etc then clean and then experiment with them. I’m always tinkering with skulls. Then what I don’t want/have room for I donate to science classroom in schools. I bet I have 200 plus skulls in several states from elementary to high school classrooms.

It usually sits on the pack better then this, but we just moved and all the jostling around caused his head to sag down. I don't have him strapped in there super tight as I do use the pack for my longer hunts and he comes on/off a few times a year. I wanted him to look the same way as he was strapped in on the way out.

Those Trapper John packs (I think that's their name) originated locally back in the 1800's. They are in hot demand and the last one I found was listed for more then a new Kifaru, so its made it easy to justify new packs "for my mounts".
