Has anyone undertook this project?

I was thinking of ordering up some Cordura and giving it a try.

I suppose it may be easier to buy a small molle or "maxpedition" bag and attach a harness...

Whatdya think? Worth it?

Yes, and it took me forever plus wasn't as nice as the real thing. I should have just worked the OT and bought one. Fun to build things though.

Yeah, I made one pack in the day. Unless you are majorly simplifying the design it's not worth it at all, I highly recommend just buying one. I'm making a hybrid cuben front pack just for fun, but it is only one compartment so super easy. stacking zippers like the kitbags lead to lots of headaches and head scratching on what order to sew things and how to turn/close the final product.

sewing a harness onto a pre-existing bag/pouch is super easy, and a much better place to start. lots of times it doesn't require any sewing at all, just some hardware voodoo.
