I was going to rebarrel a 25-06 but instead I am thinking about buying an E.R Shaw in 6.5-06 AI for pretty close to the same price as rebarreling. I have read few good reviews and have seen a few forum posts saying they arent too good. Anyone have any input on these rifles?

Sorry for the confusion. I have a Howa 25-06, I was going to have it re barreled with probably a pac-nor barrel. Instead Im thinking of buying the Shaw MK7 in 6.5-06. With the new barrel and smith work it was going to be around $800, the Shaw will be close to $900.

I think you'd have a hard time getting a Shaw rifle or barrel to live up to a PacNor barrel job

I have always been a 25-06 guy myself. However, I just finished a 6.5-284 build on a Remington long action. Went with a Rockcreek 5r barrel. It is shooting a 143 eld-x at 3039 which basically makes most of the other rifles in my safe useless.

My Forbes has an ER Shaw barrel, It's ok, shoots MOA to sub MOA with most reloads, I'm going to have it rebarreled with a Douglas and changing it from a 270 win to the 6.5x284 as well.

What length is your barrel?

I'm thinking 20 or 22" barrel to keep it a nice light weight mountain gun, might even put a brake on it for the kids.

I can't comment on Shaw rifles, but I have one of their barrels on one of my 6.5x55s
This is 4 shots at 200yds during load workup.....

I certainly don't have any negative comments regarding their accuracy! With this load (140 Berger hybrid & IMR 7828ssc) my 100yd groups are unreadably small. It looks like a single bullet hole.

Looks like the barrel shoot pretty good.

Robtatto. That's incredibly good shooting. I would venture regardless of barrel, most guys couldn't put that group together at 200yds. I know I couldn't. Impressed.

I'm going to have a second gun done by pac nor, I couldn't be happier with their work my gun shoots almost all reloads under a minute and the good ones one ragged hole. I built a 28 inch 5 contour with the atacr 5x25 and now I'm going to build a lighter rig with a 26inch three contour would highly recommend pac nor, great to deal with too
