Haha that's a great point, fishdart! That's why I use $90 forks and $85 spoons at my house! I also only allow $200 toothbrushes to enter my house! Ya know... cuz I wanna pass them down to future generations!

I bought this on an end cap at Walmart I think. All silicone rendered fat container. We use it for bacon grease. The screen size in it is a bit of a joke (holes are too big to keep out the majority of the crumbs) but a coffee filter fits it perfectly. Clean pretty white lard every time.

Picked up a pair of pizza scissors at a hardware store that was going out of business years ago. One of the best investments I ever made! Now if anyone can recommend a heavy-duty french fry cutter...

This is the one I bought. Came with various size cutters all the way up to wedges. No complaints. We use it all the time. That's on ebay. Amazon likely has same.

Some great suggestions in here! But... a $130 pepper shaker? Heirloom quality? Who wants a damn pepper grinder to be an heirloom? :)
Same dudes that spend 43 hours reading reviews to decide between 2 $3000.00 scopes...

I picked these up initially for dutch oven cooking but now they sit on top of all the pot holders:

Another one for the Soux Vide machine. It turned unedibly tough moose steaks into magically delicious. Ours is a Gourmia brand. Spend a few more bucks for the 1200 watt version.

Another one is simple and cheap, a hamburger chopper. Just google that.

We've had pretty good luck with using amount of use to justify the price. The pepper canon is a good example, it's expensive, but awesome, and it gets used all the time. Everytime you use a good tool is a pleasure. I don't mind a bit of hassle for things that don't get done very often. Good knives, good hand tools, good coffee tools, etc make cooking more pleasant, so you end up going out to eat less. Visiting Texas roadhouse a couple times more than pays for a pepper Canon.

That said, I still cook everything on cheap lodge cast iron. And we haven't found anything better than the rukon peelers.

For you folks still pulling pork by hand, you need to try a hand mixer with beaters.

My wife told me to tell you all, that's her job.
