What is the best state to hunt as a non-resident in hope of getting a big lion?

CA has lots of cats!

---that is a joke as CA has not allowed cat hunting for a long time (1990 I think)

Southern B.C. for sure. The guy we used has killed a ton so far this year (same as every year). My dad killed a great cat in December up there. They're cutting 5-7 tracks a morning.

I'm hunting in N Idaho in December. My outfitter is killing at least one problem cat a week for the state in addition to getting on good cats every week for his clients. The second week of February his client killed a 178# tom - the same cat the killed his lead dog earlier in the week.

With the right outfitter, pretty much anywhere. Idaho was good to me and several of my friends.

If you want truly big... book with TNT in Alberta and get it over with. He basically runs 100% on mammoth sized toms.

He also charges double the average going rate and stays booked 2-3 years in advance.

Not worth it to me personally, but guys looking to only book once and bring home a huge tom, that's where I'd look.
