Moving from WA to CA

I know.. I caught orders from Western Washington to Edwards report date end of Jan, controlled 4-year tour. Looking to live in Tehachapi.

I used to live in Southern California, I started bowhunting in 2013 I would go to Pendelton and Vandenberg. Currently, I've been doing pretty well hunting desert units in Central Washington.

Looking for some info on the Tehachapi area, clubs/ranges, shops, etc.

I'd really like to explore the D8/D9 areas.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Lived there for quite awhile. Tehachapi is a great little town, however remember there is also a state prison there so you do have riffraff. They now have a WalMart but most other major shopping is an hour or so to either Lancaster or Bakersfield. There is a rifle range East of town, closest archery range is near Lake Isabella at least when I was there. D8 was my stomping grounds but that was 10 years ago, but when you’re ready, get some of the USFS maps and reach out, I’ll give you my honey holes.

Thank you both. While I'm at it I'd like to share my hunt from this year.

I took three prior service Marines and a Firefighter to my spot in Central Wa. We went 5 for 5 early Archery, 2 bucks and three does.

I hunted for 16 days, had a blast introducing these guys to spot and stalk. 90 degree days and smoke. There is strength in mutual suffering.
