I’ve heard it mentioned by a few different people about the possibility of a new Kowa 6Xmm spotter coming out. Has anyone else heard anything about this? Nothing I’ve heard has been very concrete. I ask because I was just about to pull the trigger on a swaro 65 ats but I am waiting to see if this other option will actually occur

There is nothing official, however, Kowa has always waited to announce new product until that product has been made, quality control checked and in their warehouse ready to ship.
They do this so that there's no "hiccups" in reference to new product delivery dates.
At this time there's nothing to report

I would put high probability on this as they released the new 99 first, then the “sequel” to the 883 which is the TSN88. Logic dictates that they will release a “refresh” of the 600 series, with updated coatings and tech from 99 flagship. As to exact date , I can’t comment. Could be end of this year.

Just checked and 99 was released Fall21, the 88 Fall 22 so from a “product line rollout” perspective it seems they like that time of year. If you’ve heard anything solid rumour wise it’d make sense Fall 23 will be the new 600 series.

I heard the rumor too, not from CLNY, but a different vendor. But not which series. My guess would be the 660 rather than the 600 but who knows.

By 600 series I mean 663/4 , just how I’ve seen them referred to when differentiating between eyepieces.

Semantics for sure, but the Kowa designations are as follows:

TSN-601/602/603/604
TSN-661/662/663/664/663M/664M

Using 600 implies a 60mm. Likewise, a 660 is a 66mm.

In terms of the eyepieces for those models, Kowa calls it System S. It distinguishes it from the newer and larger units used on the 77mm, 88mm, and 99mm.

Do you think they would do a 60 series before they did a new 77 series with fluorite glass?

My wild ass guess is an all new 68mm from Kowa. Or will it be a 69mm?

Maybe a 65mm? Certainly not 60mm or 66mm, since they already offer those apertures.

Can't wait to see what they release, if anything.

Rumor has it that 66mm prototypes are out from some unnamed manufacturer.

My guess is Kowa, and if so it seems like I was wrong about 68mm or 69mm!

Anyone have information to share?

they’ll just release newer models of the 66 / 77 in the new skin the 99 is in. That’s been done with 88 already, technical design continuity and good for marketing brochures.

Is that speculation or direct knowledge?

OK that's what I suspected. The 88 wasn't just a new skin compared to the 880 either. They changed lens and prism coatings along with tube material, and made some user feature changes. Whether those things matter are up to the buyer though!

Rumors from insiders are that the new scope will be an all-new design, but it's all been rumors.

I think that the 660 is a very good scope optically. If a new 66mm came out, there could be some really good deals on the used market! 664 big eyes, anyone?

yeah, I just regard these things as part of any updated model. Continuity with the entire line, think the design of the 99 looks great. I did see Adams Adapters doing a sale on the Big Eyes on Instagram.
