I'd go with a short action thumper. Between the .300 & the 6.5 you're covered for flat shooting, open field guns.
I'm fast becoming a huge fan of the .358win. Having the ability to load super light loads with pistol bullets, all the way through to 300gn bear stoppers makes for a really versatile package.
Cheap to shoot & load for as well. You can make your own brass from .308 making brass almost free. Bullet selection is excellent too.

A 6tcu would be a fun tinker catridge

Don’t think it’d be hard to get 2700fps with a 105gr out of a 22” barrel.

Guy at the range had one Saturday. Hit steel way harder then 223.

Free brass. Probably best bc to price ratio bullets. Overall it might beat out 308 ballistics but one of the cheapest rounds to reload for.. Oh and an absolute pleasure to shoot from all positions. We burned up all 100 rounds in his box pretty fast.
