Building a lightweight 6 creed is my current project. I’m in Canada so can’t run a can - would a brake on an 18/20 inch barrel be necessary? Or does anyone have a recommendation for a good lightweight brake?

I just put a 6mm creed barrel on my Tikka, Osprey 1-7 twist at 19". Initial load testing with H4350 and 103 ELDx looks good. Worked up to 3100, where I hit pressure signs. The accuracy nodes appear to be at 2900 and 3050, either will be plenty for my needs.

Going to try out some 70 gr Nosler BTips here soon.
I shoot those 70gr Nos BT's in my 20in 9tw 6CM with RL16 and it may not be super fast but it stacks them together very nicely. H4350 is real close to the same as RL16 I'd highly recommend either of those. I'm sure I could probably pick up quite a bit of velocity switching to RL17 but I like using 16 a lot better.

My 16” 6 creed with an Ultra 9 is getting 2700 fps with factory 108 eldm’s. Hoping my hand loads break 2800

if you're really wanting a brake I'd recommend a PVA ultralight jet blast.
been running one on my 20" 300wsm and love it. weighs 1.37oz

What contour did you go with?

3b that they contoured down to the Tikka OD at the shank. It looks pretty similar to a friends CTR, to my eye, but I haven't taken any comparision measurements.

Cool, looks good. I still need to shoot out my 243 barrel but its on my radar to perhaps snag a 6cm barrel on a future sale to have on hand for when that time comes.

I'd be nice if they came up with a standard offering profile like PBB's hybrid lite, that follows a normal light barrel till .75" dia and then is taperless which makes it simple for suppressors and also a bit lighter than some of the taper contours in shorter lengths. Looks like they offer brux 4 as their lightest standard contour right now, that one cut at 18" would have tapered to .75" but is at least 4oz heavier than that PBB hybrid lite contour since its thicker over the rest of the profile.

I’ll second that. I have one on my 18” 6 creed and it works great. As for the “not needing a brake on the 6mm”, I hunt solo 90% of the time and seeing impacts is really important. Weird shooting positions happen and I’m not alway able to drive the rifle like I’m at the range practicing. I’ll take every advantage I can get and that’s an easy one to get!

A handful of us provided similar feedback to PVA on this thread last fall and they seemed open to it: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/your-pva-prefit-experience.7126285/page-9

Feel free to further reinforce with PVA!

Ended up screwing a 18" Carbon6 pefit on by Bergara and picked up another 60fps once broken in, now 108s going 3030fps. Gunsmith was not impressed by the looks of the barrel when I had it installed but man the thing shoots.

I have an 18" on my Sig cross. By "luck" what are you referring to. It shoots well, and was used to drop a mule deer by my son a few weeks ago, albeit with a 108 grain bullet.

Anyone on this thread happen to be using Alpha brass with their 6 Creed? If so, what does a loaded round measure at the neck? Should be around .270 +- from what I was told.

My barrel should be done soon. I need to order bushings/dies/mandrels this week.

Thanks.

Another data point. Got my x-caliber barrel last week. 17” 1:7.5” twist.

Sighted in at 100yds. Should have kept it a 9 shot group😀

I don’t have a chrono so I took it as far as I could which was 730yds to verify velocity. I should be around 2775fps.
Thought it was faster but was pretty consistently low for the last few rounds I had left and ran out of time. Need to go out again and see if it was velocity or shooter issue. Will update when I do.
