I am relatively new to building my own arrows. I shoot a VXR 31.5 set at 75lbs with a 29" draw length. I am looking into arrow options for whitetail this season. I have looked into the Easton Axis and Hexx but am open to other options. I am leaning toward an Easton 6mm Hexx 330 spine with a 50g brass insert and a 100g head. With 3 AAE max stealth vanes and a lighted nock, my arrow would total about 410g. Would this be sufficient for whitetail and appropriate to shoot out of my bow with my DW and DL.

Thanks,
Milan

No problem blowing through a whitetail. You may be light spine wise, however. A .300 would be a better choice, IMO.

I'm shooting same bow, same weight with 1/2" shorter draw and I'm using a .250 spine with 60 grain insert and 125 head. I don't think you will get a .330 spine to tune. Might not get a .300 to tune depending on your arrow length. 300 with standard insert should be fine.

Agree with the above. Great set up but you will be weak with the 330s....go to 250 or change to a 300 shaft and maybe take an inch off the total length.
The 250 Hexx built as you described will be perfect ...

I am using same bow, draw weight and same draw length. I am using black eagle carnivore 250 cut at 29.5” with 100gr insert and 125gr Broadhead. My total weight is 553gr at 272fps. These were the arrows I built for elk hunting but will be using them on everything.

It will be hard with the setup to get much weight upfront without being under on the spine. The other issue is finding a light arrow in the 250 spine the will allow you to increase FOC and not be over 500 grains.

I’m shooting a 28 vxr at 74lbs with 340 pro hunter 50 grain fact weights, arrow 452gr, happy at 60yds.
