6.8 Western instead of 7mm Rem Mag?

Any .277” cartridge seems interesting to me.

Just out of curiosity I grabbed the dimensions to see how easily 7saum brass can be used - I’m just thinking out loud here, don’t take my word for anything. It’s close, but .005”ish shorter at the outer part of the shoulder, and short enough where it meets the neck to still be a little short after being sized down.

An extra .005” stretch isn’t huge if it only happens once on first firing, but it might be worth expanding the neck, then sizing it down to create a false shoulder, or shooting it the first time with a solid bullet jam into the rifling. I’m wondering if 300 SAUM isn’t easier since it would already have a false shoulder when sized down? IDK

I don’t have 6.8 barrel yet, but hopefully one will eventually fall out of the sky in the next year or two.

Yeah but most of us need brass and they won't supply it because they only want us to buy their factory loads.

That's a fact, hornady and many of the other manufacturers are the same way.. they would rather sell you brass, lead, powder and primers all at the same time.. they probably make more money that way.
Hopefully after ADG comes on board the flood gates will open.

Yep. Can't wait. I'm hearing a June run for ADG. But who knows how much they will run and how fast it will sell out.

Can’t wait for ADG as well. Win just did a run of 6.8W brass and sold out same day seeing in stock notifiications.

Absolutely. That's the reason for my initial comment. They are not supporting the caliber. They should run enough to fill the need. People buy it up and resell it on sites for 3 times the price.
