In my 23" barrel there was 100fps different with RL26, in between the 200.20x and the 215hyb.Why not go with the 215’s. Think velocity will drop too much?

It’s a short action, so 200 is about as long as I want to go and the speed difference. Why not go with the 215’s. Think velocity will drop too much?
In my 26” 300wsm the 215’s are going 2963ft/s and I think Justin C is getting close to 2950ft/s with a 24” barrel, just wasn’t sure how quickly the speed drops with the 300wsm.In my 23" barrel there was 100fps different with RL26, in between the 200.20x and the 215hyb.
I never did a lot of development with the 215, I'm going to start perusing it again though. I do recall I hit 2997 (71gr)in new brass with RL26 but there was bolt lift above 70gr on my notes. 68.5-69.5 grain was a total of 12 fps spread on 3 shots 2902-2914. This was when the barrel was new, so it'll likely hit those speeds a full grain or more less but I'll find out.In my 26” 300wsm the 215’s are going 2963ft/s and I think Justin C is getting close to 2950ft/s with a 24” barrel, just wasn’t sure how quickly the speed drops with the 300wsm.
What was your speed with the 23” tube? We also use RL26.
I settled at 68.6 with my load, that is very interesting, really not seeing much of a velocity drop from 26” to 23”I never did a lot of development with the 215, I'm going to start perusing it again though. My barrel is a hells canyon armory summit contour 9.5tw cut as long as Mike could get it, closer to 23.5. I loaded a ladder from 67.2-69gr with 215s 12k off lands, running 4k nk tension. The 1000y br ftr guys run heavy nk tension close to lands to keep release consistent to es/SD. Idk it or works but a friend runs 210vld behind rl23 2860fps and it shoots tiny with 4k nk tension.I settled at 68.6 with my load, that is very interesting, really not seeing much of a velocity drop from 26” to 23”
Ryan you should test the 215’s with the 20” and see how much drop in velocity you get.
The two Alliant powders will give the highest velocity before pressure and accurate likely. The two Hodgdon will give likely great accuracy. I personally would opt for a 185 berger in the 06 case as tge velocity will edge out the BC of the heavier bullet within normal hunting distances. Ive killed or witnessed 3 different elk taken with the 185 berger and it was very lethal at 2900 muzzle velocity on boiler room impacts, 300wsm with H4350.With a 17 inch 1:9 twist 30-06 I am debating what powder to start with for the 200.20x...
