Guys I have a t my disposal a yeti 65 and 55 quart and my own 70 quat colman xtream. The plan is to load them up with frozen 2 liter bottles and top off with ice. Will that be enough room for a boned out bull? Do I need to grab a 150 colman and also take the yeti 65? thoughts?

My boned and processed elk filled 2 120qt chests with barely room for a small layer of ice

Flying or driving? A 150 would probably be overweight for a plane

We're driving. The other idea is to take what we have and my little Honda 2000 generator. If we get a bull or two buy a freezer in idaho and put the bulk of the meat in it.

I know guys that do the freezer thing with an inverter in the back of the truck. Works very well, but is a bit bulky.

I use the 150qt Coleman extreme coolers Wally World sells for $60-70. 3 of those will just hold 2 boned out elk sans ribs. If you keep the ribs, you'll need an extra 70qt cooler. If you keep the cape, add another 40qt cooler per cape. If you can get the flat top ones, they stack pretty well. Some racket straps and you're off.

Depends on where you are hunting, but you can buy them when you need them as well. That is how I got one of my 3. They are remarkably good coolers.

So for some perspective, for the bull in the picture above:

100 quart - cape, boned out front quarters
120 quart - boned out rear quarters, loose meat
65 quart - remaining loose meat

I ended up turning in 300 lbs of meat to the processor.

I shot a much smaller bull than pokorn28 and split it between two yeti 120's and had plenty of room. I think I could have fit it all in one, with very little room for ice though.

Two 100 or 120 quart coolers is big enough. Use dry ice. Works better and takes less space. Wapiti1 gave you all you need to know. Freezers are just not necessary and take up way too much room.

Yes. Plenty of room if it's boned out.

We'll have two 100 quarts and one 110 quart, so 310 total for hopefully two bulls. Probably two small bulls though haha. If we need more room we'll just buy more coolers.

I just used 2 145 qt RTIC coolers to bring back my bone-in meat. Fit a mature bull from NM to TX with room for 40-50 lbs of ice in each
