The only problem with Hammer is pricey, I shot a Ram at 250 yards, that Ram just dropped. I shot an Elk at 500 yards in the neck and the elk couldn’t move forward. , the Ram I use 180 and the elk I use 170 HH with new tip.
HH bullets is much easier to develop load work, you need to try it.

I bet I've killed a dozen deer, half dozen antelope, 3 or 4 elk, a bear, and a moose with Hammer Hunters. I'm very happy with them.

Make sure you pick one that matches your rifling twist. Most of those big 30s are 1:10 so you're looking at a 180gr HH. I bet out of 300 Weatherby they're going to be moving like 3300-3400 fps. Though my experience is with 300winmag at around 3200fps

i might be going elk or moose hunting in the next few years not just whitetail

Build your load around that and it will certainly work on deer also.

Also, if your gun is a 10-twist, choose the hammer bullet that needs an 11-twist to stabilize. Fast and very stable is good with copper.
