I know that most high end scope rings are rated for 65 inch pounds for the ones with the 1/2 inch nut on the cross slot bolt.

I wonder if people run these up to 65 inch pounds or something less, say 50 inch pounds.

How much do you torque for say a steel ring with a 1/2 inch nut on the cross bolt?

How much for an aluminum ring with a 1/2 inch nut on the cross bolt?

How much for say a low end ring like a weaver quad lock or skeleton tactical?

I run Talley QDs in a dovetail config (11mm) and shoot full grain .45-70s with it. I only finger tighten the Talley levers. Pretty sure I'm barely reaching 60, if that. I've never had one loosen and many rounds at the range. The forces are not operating in such a way on the rings from recoil that "more is better". It just needs to be "snugly secure".

Sorry if that's not an answer.
