Virginia gun laws

Troubling times indeed. It's hard for me to relate/understand people that think removing the gun rights of otherwise law abiding citizens will make them safer. That's just crazy.

I have several good friends that live between the People's Republic of Charlottesville & the District of Commies... Trust me on this... there's huge numbers of people who are livid with what's going on. Prime example of "cold anger". Everyone believes there's no way in hell that any LEO would ever come & try to do anything like confiscation, etc. But they all will tell you that IF it ever did happen.. it's gonna get ugly real fast.
Keep an eye on Culpeper County...

Try anywhere in the valley.

Sounds like Berlin in the 1930s or something that would happen in a 3rd world country.
The liberals/socialists in this country are becoming more and more bold every year.

I just spent last year living in N Virginia and lived there in the early 90’s. N Virginia has really changed with all the uncontrolled immigration in the area.

I think you’re in denial if you think Gov KKK/ Coonman is going to back down on gun confiscation. He openly brags about it . Can’t believe you think your racist Gov Coonman and N VA Dems are reasonable. Just watch the Dem debates every candidate supported gun bans and confiscation along with open borders and free healthcare and college for illegal aliens.

just look to Maryland And NJ for their anti gun laws . Virginia is lost.

You probably know more about N Virginia than I do as most people I know do what we can to avoid the area. The annual P&Y National Convention is finally coming near where I live and I want to attend, but don't know if I want to go badly enough to go to N Virginia. (I live on a farm in southeast VA, about an hour's drive inland from Virginia Beach/Norfolk)

As for the Ds being reasonable. I don't think they have a choice. While they have the majority in the House and Senate, they are just barely in control. As I stated above I think the Ds will have to pull back on the reins or risk losing all control at the next election (November 2021).

2018-2019
House was 51 Rs and 49 Ds
Senate was 21 Rs and 19 Ds

2020-2021
House is 49 Rs and 51 Ds
Senate is 19 Rs and 21 Ds

(Virginia has no independents)

Clearly if the Ds push too hard they will lose all control at the next election. I think all of their crazy bills and talk are posturing. This is a common political tactic. The problem, as with numerous other states, is that our largest population center (N Virginia) is steering the politics for the rest of the state. The Rs will have to dramatically improve their game or they will be insignificant in 10-20 years.

I will just have to accept the charges. Misdemeanor, felonies whatever they throw at me! I refuse to give them my rights.

I hear you. Are you going to take the route of hidden non-compliance or open non-compliance. I don't expect you to answer this on an internet forum but something to think about.

IMO, covert non-compliance is on it's face the loss of liberty. I will not say what I want only in the privacy of my own home but in the town center too.

You are correct. It’s a serious decision that a lot of us are going to have to make. I already know my decision and I am ready for the consequences that will more than likely follow.

My wife's family goes back to the 1700's in Virginia. Her GGGran fought with Mosby's Ranger's. He was a freshman at UVA when the war broke out and joined the CSA. His brother fought along side him and later went to Cuba with Teddy Roosevelt as a Minister. They were proud Virginians. I think I know what they would have done.

“Any shooting ranges with more than 50 members have to be operated by the government”

Or so I’m told. That shuts down the NRA in Fairfax, for starters.

This is not going to be the beginning of gun control, but the end of democrat control.

My tollorance for Dems is in the negatives now......

Well, when Lincoln was amassing Troops before Va seceded, he told the governor to send the VMI cadets. He didn’t because he knew damn those same cadets would be forced to turn their guns on the very communities they just left. Imagine you are a sheriff or nat guard member and a commie punk like Northam says, “let’s go get some guns.” What in the actual hell do you think life will be like for them? It will be the end of their careers because except in small liberal areas, the vast majority of the public will reject them.
And I wonder how many of those sheriffs and nat guard members even voted for the bastid?

I can’t even see a Democrat cop wanting to disarm a citizen for $38K a year.

I reckon this is the last time Va elects a Liberal Demo-rat over a Yankee.

Imagine your boss telling you "do this or be fired and lose your pension". I bet things would look a little different to you then. However, It would be inexcusable once the dust settled.

I don't think that's what it means. It's not about money.

But which oath? The one to uphold the laws or the one to uphold the Constitution?
Haha good point. I would counter that any law that is in opposition to the constitution is no law at all, not that there are plenty of those being enforced already...

But who would actually be the cop charged with this task if the sheriff of the country won’t enforce it? It would normally fall upon the deputies. Special weapons units/ swat teams etc are sheriff departments. They gonna send state troopers, state park rangers and game wardens to perform raids to confiscate weapons?

Do local cops/deputies take an oath to uphold the US Constitution? I don't think so.
Do local cops/deputies take an oath to uphold their state's Constitution? I don't know.

Can somebody confirm please?

A response from an officer would be valuable.

I was wondering that before I posted and google made it look like there is a standard oath for officers that includes the constitution. If they can't at a bare minimum swear an oath to that I don't want them around anyway.

I'd like to know where the idea of confiscation is coming from?

From my reading of the proposed bills I can't find it.

But I'm just a dumb redneck in the hills.
