What is your household hunting budget?

My wife and I both recently started new jobs and we’re having a strategic financial conversation and redefining some of our short/long term goals.

With that in mind, we’re assessing our individual hobby budgets. What percentage/amount of your take home goes toward hunting-related expenses? I know this can vary greatly from person to person, but I’m just curious.

Quick figuring has me around 12%. But I'm an underpaid wildlife biologist In one of the nations poorest states. About $1200 on app fees/points each year. Throw in a big game tag for $800-$1200. About $1k for my local hunting club. Then turkey licenses in 6+ states each spring.

I don't exactly keep track.

I'd estimate around 5% on an average year, not counting feeding/vet/etc for the hunting dogs that are also pets.

About the same on fishing.

My wife doesn't hunt or fish with me.

But we hike and camp with much of the same gear, so there's a direct benefit for her in it.

Never tracked it. Last year was 10ish percent on three trips, 4 silencers, 2 rifles, some gear.

Plus all the stuff I do with my truck to keep it up to the task.

This year I’m in a new rifle, k4, another pair of kenetreks, some gear and a few points plus 2 licenses. So maybe 2-3%

3-5k in out of state hunts. Sometimes less if I only have one tag. I probably spend around 2k in ammo, arrows and miscellaneous stuff.

I don't keep track. I just know I'm going to go.
