I finally think this is the winter I’m going to build a LR 338....basically a LR hunter...A Remington 700 action, a proof CF barrel at 26”, and a manners or McMillan. Nothing to special but I’m curious on thoughts of what round....Want more punch than a 338. Win Mag but want to keep it in a .532 magnum(no lapua)....what woul you choose? 338 RUM, 33 Nosler, 338 edge? Something else? I’m open to suggestions.

Im partial to the RUM, but they all have pluses and minuses in each column.
300gr Bergers and H1000 or Retumbo are like peanut butter and jelly.
It's an addictive path youre turning down...enjoy😁

RUM or Edge depending on what bullet and velocity you are thinking about. I went 338 RUM on a Savage build with an eye to shooting mainly 250gr bullets. I get where I want to go with the RUM for those. If I want to shoot 300's, I'll punch it out to the edge chamber.

Yards? Goddamn I cant shoot that many feet! The post rifle season goal is to get a bit more proficient!
I have a self-imposed limit of 1200 yards now and that's only if conditions are right. I personally don't think bullet-design is there yet for much father.

Take a look at the 338 Sherman Magnum! It uses a regular magnum bolt face and is based off of the 300 PRC case so it's easy to source brass.

Why the heck would you go through the trouble of dicking with case forming, and custom dies etc. when the 338 Rum/Edge will kick the crap out of it??
With readily available brass

Or do I keep it simpler and buy say a Weatherby Accumark 338-378?
Weatherby Accumark in the 338 Lapua range certified is a great choice for a factory setup. For custom go with what Ryan said about the +p Edge.

338 Win Mag, 200 grain accubond or 210 grain partition at 3100fps. Much easier to get components and cheaper to shoot.
