Looks like I might be in Vegas for a few starting the first week of Sept. What's there to do in the area other than the strip.

Spent a few days there recently and didn’t gamble once. Here’s my list:

Meow Wolf Las Vegas -immersive visual art museum. Book in advance.

There are some fantastic, old school pool halls there. I’ve been to “Good Timez” and it was super cool. Ask some bartenders etc for their opinion on the best pool hall and you’ll get some interesting opinions.

The Neon Museum -guided tour of a boneyard of old neon signs. Super cool and interesting. Book in advance.

JJ’s Boulangerie for the breakfast pizza. It’s in the Paris casino.

Be sure to spend some time hanging around Fremont street for the old school experience, street performers

Mob Museum -close to the Fremont area so good to tie in. Book in advance

Valley Of Fire State Park. Death Valley is only about 2 hours away and is really cool too. However, we went in December. If you go to the Hoover Dam, take the Big Dam Tour.

I feel like it's my duty to reply.

Have a meal at the Peppermill. Great old Vegas vibe and food is good and plentiful. Just past Wynn on the way to Downtown Vegas.

The Dam tour is really interesting. The one where you get to go to the bottom of the dam. Not sure how COVID is affecting these tours.

Neon museum is cool. Mob museum also good. Hoover dam was closed when we were there due to the rona so double check that one. There are gun ranges that rent full auto stuff if you're into that. One even picks you up in a big ass Humvee.

There are long zip lines outside Vegas that sometimes put you right on top of bighorn sheep herds, very cool. I've taken newbie hunters to Fort Rock Ranch near Kingman (2 hr drive) for canned hunts (no license required) to break em in and done plenty of predator calling in the foothills around Vegas. Don't be surprised to find lots of wild horses out there. Pretty much an early morning hunt this time of year.

Hemenway valley park in Boulder City is where the bighorn sheep hang out. Played basketball by them a few days a week when we worked there for a few months. Always went to Mt. Charleston to get out of the heat. It’s an hour ish drive and probably 40 degrees cooler at least. Then Zion is like 3.5hrs north I think.

That what I did the only time I was there, Red Rock and some other places mentioned, couldn't get out of that strip area fast enough!
