I'm back from the elk hunt. Congrats on the antelope and anniversary @mtwarden! Nice work everyone!

My trip went great. I saw 43 elk, including a couple of nice bulls, in three days of scouting. When a young 4x3 walked through on opening morning I couldn't keep my finger off the trigger. Maybe next year I'll become a trophy elk hunter!

walked my rifle for 8 miles (about 1600'); haven't hunted an opener in 35 years (well 25 of those years I was working openers )

hunted a nice ridge, but was a wet snow falling almost the entire day- made it quiet, but I think the elk were pretty much holed up

I’ve been lazy lately, but did get out today with my son for about 6 miles and around 2000’ (but probably not quite). 17° this morning and gusting to about 40mph made for a pretty chilly day, but boy was it beautiful out.
