I shot this one 2 weeks ago with a 165 TTSX out of my 300WSM. It was bedded and the shot Broke both shoulders, double lung and it basically didn't move. 30 cal entry and 60 cal exit wound. Massive internal damage. Can't say enough for the TTSX's.

FWIW I have been in on 4 goat kills, 2 that I have shot and 2 that my wife has shot. Took my first one with a .243, the next 3 were all taken with a .50 muzzleloader. None of them went or took more than 5 steps. Mind you, all where taken inside of a 100 yds. I would think any one of your rifles is up to the task.

I shot this 10yr old with a .416 Ruger. Anything less would be uncivilized. :)

boy, he's pertty!

I just used a 300 H&H with some wicked fast partitions. 10 yds put him on his arse. doubletap!! ahh geez.

My very first post! Woo Hoo! Anyway, I have shot 3 Billies in the lower 48. I used 3 different rifles and none were way better than the others, and I would use them all again.
1. 270 Winchester with 130 gr. core-lokt.
2. 300 wsm with 168 TSX
3. 280 Ackley (SAAMI) with 168 grain Berger VLD.

So I would say anything like these are just fine. If you think carrying something bigger and heavier up in the crags is ideal, then do it.
